Derailment in B’baria: Train ops return to normalcy

A freight train which derailed in Brahmanbaria has been removed from the rail lines, resuming rail services on the Dhaka-Chattogram-Sylhet route nine hours after the accident.
Train movement between Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet has returned to normal around 8:30pm, said Brahmanbaria Station Master Md Jasim Uddin.
Earlier, a container train derailed in the Baroharan area of ​​Brahmanbaria Sadar around 11:30am on Wednesday, disrupting train movement.
However, train movement on the other track faced no disruptions, said the station master.
Later, the rescue train from Akhaura Railway Junction went to the accident site and moved the derailed train from the tracks.
‘Dhaka-bound container train No 601 crossed Brahmanbaria railway station at 11:15am. The train derailed after reaching the Baroharan area. After the rescue work, train movement on both tracks started around 9:00pm,’ he added.
